Baby shower! September 10, 2007

We had a great time on Sunday as we helped Matt and Niki get ready for their new baby, due to arrive in November. I think everyone in our little office bunch tends to be pretty practical and our offerings reflected that pretty well. Following the family showers and the office one, it sounds like baby girl Stanley will want for nothing the first few months of her life. In fact, her papa already made the statement that “she has more clothes than we do.” Ahhh, papa, if you only knew how that statement will come to describe the rest of your life as a parent.

We always seem to enjoy getting together for a little event outside work. People in our group like to visit (after all, we are in PR). It was good to see everyone’s husband’s, wives and baby George was also in attendance. I posted a few shots of the shower on FlickR (see below right). Enjoy!

Looking forward to fall September 6, 2007

It’s been a long hot summer and I’m looking forward to fall. I’m sure I’m not alone. The best of summer is long past. The world outside is starting to look a little tired and crunchy. We need a little rain and some crisp mornings to reinvigorate us and make us look forward to spending time outdoors again.

Fall may seem like an end to some, but, to me it’s an important beginning. The beginning of holiday season. I love the fall because it brings color and football season with marching bands and tailgating. I love it because it’s the time of year for making all things out of apples: apple pie, apple sauce, apple dumplings. It’s the time to dig out the sweaters and jackets that I adore, mostly because they cover up more of me! It’s also time for family gatherings. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner.

This year, fall will also bring a new grandson. Our daughter will be having a little boy in November and this will be the first grandson. We’ve already been blessed with three beautiful granddaughters. It will truly be a time of Thanksgiving at our house this season.

A rather long hiatus September 5, 2007

I’ll bet you thought I’d completely given up writing in my blog. No, not given up. Just taking a bit of a break. There’s nothing wrong, just couldn’t seem to find the time or the inspiration to write anything the past few days.

Maybe you folks who are readers of my blog could help me to get past the writer’s block I have and inspire me to get back to work. What sort of things do you most like to read? Share your thoughts and I promise I’ll get cracking again.
