My first baby was born. It sounds so small to say someone is 25 years old today. It’s so much more impressive to say you’ve been on the planet for a quarter of a century, or two score and five years. It’s equally impressive to be able to say “Today my insurance rates reflect that I am truly an adult!”
Regardless of how you say it, congratulations, son, on reaching this important milestone in your life. Having you was worth the 3 1/2 days of labor it took to get you here! Although we no longer get to spend time together on your special day (because you truly are an adult with a life of your own) just know that every February 4th I wake up and think about my first child and am thankful for your presence in my life.
My next blog entry will deal with the downside of saying you have a child that is a quarter of a century old. I’ll try to phrase it more positively from my perspective next time I write! Now, help me think of ways to make 25 sound like a very SMALL number so I don’t feel so ancient!
