She’s three, she’s my niece, she’s a bit of a diva and…she’s way too much like me for comfort. “Baby chicken” as she is called by my daughter, is practicing early for her turn at American Idol. This evening she refined her stage moves while singing You Are My Sunshine and Baby Bumblebee. She also started to learn the song that was my claim to fame at age five: I’ve Been Everywhere.
“Baby chicken” is also taking music lessons and is learning to recognize notes, rests, and can say her musical alphabet. It’s pretty cute. Especially when I heard that when she heard someone singing the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of a Nascar race on TV, she ran to grab her Mama’s curling iron and used it for a microphone as she sang along.
Kids do the darndest things! 🙂
