Well, this week is a week of change. We have a couple of new people starting at the office today and that’s always exciting. We’re a pretty close group of people and it’s similar to the feeling of getting new brothers or sisters. Welcome Karen and Jeremiah.
This is also the countdown toward Chris’ departure and the big new beginning for him in Washington, DC. We haven’t had too many people completely leave our office group. It was really hard when Niki went to part-time and we didn’t get to see her or talk to her everyday because she works from home. The saving grace with that was only that she wasn’t too far away and we did get to see her occasionally. This will be different because Chris is not only leaving the University, but, is moving halfway across the country.
I get very attached to people and routines. It’s hard when friends leave. It’s one of those times when I can truly say thank goodness for information technology so that we can still keep in touch by email and blogging. It’s not the same, but, at least it’s something.
Transition is painful, but, it’s also inevitable. Life being what it is, all things change eventually. I’ll stock up on some extra chocolate for comfort, smile a lot and tell a lot of jokes and will get through it. Then I’ll have a week or two before Shane starts fulltime and till July before Christine leaves us for Kentucky. Wow. It’s even worse when I write it all down! Maybe it’s time for a Fat Chick post to lift the spirits! 🙂
